The Cavendish Arms

In My 30 years of being in the hospitality industry, we have seen global reccession, Foot and mouth, High interest rates and more recently Brexit shenanigans, all of which sent shockwaves through the industry, I can honestly say, the Tsunami speed of the latest global Covid-19 virus is like nothing else we have seen. At The Cavendish Arms the health and well being of guests and our team are our top priority, I want to reassure you of our diligent approach.

I am committed to uphold the following strategy and initiatives. I am closely monitoring the changing Government guidelines and following the instructions accordingly. Whilst there are no reported cases amongst our staff our guests at present, here's what we are doing to protect you as much as possible.

  • If you are not feeling great just now, we ask you to postpone your visit with us until you feel better.
  • Upon arrival our team will let you know about higiene facilities that are on hand throughout your stay.
  • We will as always, extend a very warm welcome to all our guests, but for the time being this will not be accompanied with a handshake, physical contact or luggage carrying.
  • We ask for your help in regularly washing your hands as much as possible. Every single member of staff has access to sanitizer and are washing their hands every 1 hour.
  • We have reduced the density of our tables so there is a greater distance between tables.
  • Team members will observe a two meter distance where ever possible.

We want to help as much as we can and currently our cancellation policy stands as normal. If you need to cancel your booking within this policy, we will move your booking to a more appropriate time in the interest of being more flexible during this period.

The Cavendish Arms is much more than a Lake District hotel. It?s a 450 year old coaching inn, set in the picturesque village of Cartmel, with quaint low beamed ceilings, a wealth of antique furniture and a blazing log fire.

We serve excellent British food using the finest of local produce, wines and traditional beers and ales. With friendly relaxed service and very comfortable rooms you will find yourself drifting away into Cartmel?s perfectly laid back way of life. This charming retreat also has a fine restaurant where you can dine by candlelight. We now have three luxury double rooms with en-suite bathrooms , and dont forget to visit our designer led shop Perfect English.

All the rooms have been restored to an exceptionally high standard and retain much of the character of the original building with oak beamed ceilings. And if you like a piece of the antique country furniture in the rooms you can buy a piece to take home! You can relax outside the Cavendish with a chilled drink or speciality coffee and watch the world go by, or sit beside the babbling river Eea. This is the perfect location to stay for a weekend at Cartmel Races. The area around Cartmel is full of outdoor activities and we are just a stone?s throw away from the seaside and Morecambe Bay, and within easy reach of the central lakes, Coniston Water and Windermere.

Please be aware if you are booking on behalf of a larger party with multiple rooms, payment may be required at the point of booking or before your stay.
