Winter getaway
We stayed over at the Cavendish with two friends, enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the hotel following a long winter walk. We had dinner in the restaurant the same evening. The service and food were excellent. We had a lovey time.

A great stay at a great hotel
The Cavendish Arms was the perfect base for exploring and enjoying Cartmel and the surrounding area. The staff were great - helpful, engaging and diligent. Our room - over in the square above a shop - was like a private suite but at a bargain price. The food exceeded our expectations - the menu was apparently new and for me its highlight was the pig's cheek starter. The meat was tender and packed with flavour. The atmosphere in the bar was great - everyone was friendly, new friends were made and the drinks flowed. All in all a great stay at a great hotel.

Comfortable stay
Well appointed comfortable room with great selection of tea/coffee/biscuits. Beautiful bathroom with oodles of hot water. Separate access from pub was handy.

Lovely stay. Very nice traditional hotel
Loved this old building in the centre of Cartmel. Room was large, comfortable and immaculately clean. Suggestion: the weather during our stay was bitterly cold. Although the room itself was warm, there was an awful draft from the window - the single blind just wasn’t adequate. You might want to consider putting a heavier curtain for such conditions. Breakfast was amazing, served by really attentive staff. Didn’t dine there - there wasn’t anything on the menu that I wanted. That’s only me though, don’t take it as a reflection of the quality. All in all, excellent value for money and an enjoyable stay.

Super! As ever.....
A superb contrast to the end of the road.!Whilst all the pubs in Cartmel (of which there are a number) this is the best by a long way. Unlike the others this has been run and owned by the same 'Mine Host' (Richard) for many, many years and is independent and not part of chain.Relaxed, unpretentious, convivial, warm & characterful and very old. Food (breakfast, lunch or dinner) is excellent, deliciously cookedto 'gastro' standard (although I hate that word) and most importantly, local ingredients! The last time Iwe stayed (a couple of weeks ago) a bloke came in and asked"could he watch the football whilst he had his meal?" The answer was 'no'.He left. (Phew!)

Food
Although the food was Fantastic including the deserts. We would have liked more options to pick from on the specials board as we stayed for a few days and it got a little bit samey. Although we must add that the tart tartan with liquorice ice cream was very well thought out a real pleasure to eat . A must to go and have a dinner and desert if in the area.

Great short stay in Cartmel
We've visited Cartmel a few times and have stopped by the Cavendish Arms for food and drinks, but this was our first time staying here.Nice place, simple room but clean and well presented, great value for money and all you need really.Great bar & restaurant, friendly staff too.No onsite parking, but there's a car park at the racecourse which is only a short walk.Would happily go back, whether that's for a drink, a meal, or to stay over.
