Value for Money
The price we paid for 2 nights was very good. The room was immaculately clean.Service was 10/10.Lovely location and lovely room. The one niggle:The television malfunctioned or had some form of alarm left on it. In the middle of the night the power light flashed on and off repeatedly and we had to unplug the TV to get it off. If either of us were epileptic this would have been a real issue!

Warm, welcoming lodgings, in the heart of beautiful Cartmel
The Cavendish, as befits the name (a distinguished moniker of some standing in the area!) is a proper hotel -a place where things are just done well. From the warm welcome of the helpful and friendly staff - all of whom were excellent btw -to the very tasty bar/restaurant food, and the well-appointed and comfortable rooms, it ticks all the boxes. Location too doesn't disappoint; situated on the lane just through the old National Trust Priory gatehouse, very near the parking spots at the racecourse or the village square nearby, it's an ideal HQ for a Cartmel stay. I've been twice now, and wouldn't hesitate to book again - it was also very good value incidentally. Only one wee quibble (and it's actually not such a big deal depending on the kind of traveller you are). The Cavendish is - as with practically all of the houses in the historic centre of the village - in a very old building, with very thick stone walls, and an internal layout going back many many years re: the camber of floors and corridors etc. As such, the internet connection in our room was very weak - and sometimes not at all. It wasn't a biggie for us, as we enjoyed disconnecting a bit during our stay; plus you could easily pop down to the bar and get a strong signal if need be. And of course, there's a TV in the room too. So if you can overlook that - and when set against the high quality of the place overall - you will not be disappointed. So a big thank you to all at The Cavendish. And we hope to see you again in the future.
